Hamartigenia (Italy)
Biography
Hamartigenia (a Greek name taken from latin philosopher Prudentius
work, which means "the origin of sin") was formed back in 2002 in
Venice by guitar / vocalist Davide, together with Giacomo and Jacopo, friends
and classmates at the time. The three began playing cover songs from their favorite
bands (Slayer and Metallica), but the first attempt results in a classical and
melodic metal; after a while they naturally start to play more raw and extreme,
mixing tharsh metal with some elements from death and black metal. The result
is "Blood Of The Sacrifice" (NOT to be considered as a demo), a rehearsal
live recording containing all the songs composed by the band: the sound was
really bad, raw and evil, and directly reminds of bands like old Kreator, old
Sepultura, Sarcofago and the Italian gods Necrodeath.
After this release (Summer of 2002), they managed to find Daniele
as a second guitarist which thanx to his thrash / core roots, fits immediatly
in the band's sound making it more solid and giving the songs something more
than one guitar can do. After 5 months, the band decide to record CD to promote
its live dates in Italy; they enter PUK Studios (the same rehearsal room where
they recorded "Blood" and they record "Visions Of A Declining
World", a 4-track live Demo totally autoproduced. In spite of the horrible
sound production, the disc was quickly sold out at the shows and the band became
more and more popular in the north of Italy, eventually playing with big names
of the Italian underground scene such as Handful Of Hate, Arkenemy and Vexed.

"The Destruction Of Knowledge"

Right after that, the band took a long break to write new songs,
playing gigs every once in a while (including the international contest for
upcoming bands "Emerganza", getting an unexpected positive reaction
from the audience) and booking Heartbeat Studio (Ensoph, Insane Assholes, Bleed
In Vain) between February and March 2005 to record in a professional way a new
promo, "The
Destruction Of Knowledge", with sound engineer Leonardo Castellani,
Ensoph's keybord player.
This new endeavor from the band displays a strong evolution,
from raw and totally chaotic thrash / black metal to a much more solid and tight
sound, perfectly in between glorious Bay Area and European roots from Germany
to Sweden. Artwork duties were managed by Diego Maniscalco (www.unspire.com),
one of the most talented artists in Italy that gave prove of his skills with
Even Vast, Overslope, Psychofagist and Anthenora too...
