Biography
Shiva was formed in 2001 by Mats Edstrom and Annete Johansson.
Mats, who is guitarist, songwriter and producer of the band, and Annete who
does the lead and background vocals and is also the co-producer, recorded their
first album, simply called "Shiva", with the help of a few guest musicians.
The album was released in 2002 and got great reviews both in Europe and Japan.
Their second album called "Desert Dreams" was recorded in the same
way as their debut and was released in 2004. The album was a bit heavier than
their debut, but that didn' t stop the album from getting great reviews again.

"The Curse Of The Gift"

Now, Shiva's third album called "The
Curse Of The Gift" has seen the light of day. On this concept album
Shiva has evolved into a real band. Mats Ottosson (guitars), Mattias Hoijer
(bass), Mikael Malborg (drums) already played their parts on the first two Shiva
albums, while Niclas Olson (keyboards) gives a vider dimension to Shiva' s sound.
Some would describe band's music as a melodic progressive
rock / metal, but they simply describe it as a modern, melodic hard rock. The
songs vary from ballads to dark heavy rock in which the lyrics play quite an
important role. "The Curse Of The Gift" has been written over the
past two years. As was the case with the first two albums, a band had complete
creative freedom again, and therefore no compromises were made whatsoever...
