Gauntlet is born in Madrid (Spain) in 1998, when Nacho Arriaga
(d), Carlos Peria (b) and Antuan Manzano (g) join forces with Daniel Millan
(g) and Jose Luis Viruete (v) to start a heavy metal project. Half a year later,
A. Manzano quits and Miguel Rocha (g) enters the band as the other guitar player.
With this line-up, Gauntlet begins the recording its first demo CD, "Gauntlet",
released in 2000. At the end of the year, J. L. Viruete, leaves the band as
well and here begins one of the hardest frontman's guest in rock'n' roll history!
They will spend the next 5 years looking for a definitive singer without success.
With the helping throat of Nacho Ruiz (former Arwen's singer), they release
their second demo CD, "Rising", in 2002, offering a better sound
quality than the first one. At the time, Audo Martinez (d) replaces N. Arriaga
on drums and Sr. Lobo becomes the new singer. But few months later, the band
loses this last one and C. Peria who joins Dreamaker... but the guys don't
surrender, with Dani as the only original member, they start to record some
songs in their home studio in 2003 for the next release, as well as they keep
on searching for new members. Later on, Santi Garcia (b) joins GAUNTLET as
the new bass player, and entering the studio as soon as possible. Through all
these months, the band is focused on recordings, but still dealing with the
eternal problem...
Feeling tired of auditioning "singers", 2004 is the only year GAUNTLET
become a quartet, with Miguel Rocha as frontman / guitar player, until they
find a great singer in Jose Moscatel, at the end of this year, but he's fired
not long after... The quest reaches to an end in February of 2005 when they
get in touch with the best man they had ever auditioned. The Bulgarian Ivo
Galenov (v). His style is impressive, powerful, with an extremely personal
voice. So, with this line-up, in 2006, they release his first official CD "Path
Of Nails", at last, seven years after and without any external help. Self-recorded,
self-produced and self-distributed.
Here in 2007, GAUNTLET is working on fresher, thicker and outstanding brand
new songs... and still searching for a label, which can help the band to reach
an international status, as they deserve. Under the influence of a wide range
of bands, from Thin Lizzy to Pantera, GAUNTLET builds a characterstic sound,
based on killer guitar riffs with solid drum / bass section and an outrageous
but melodical voice.
