Ohrid Choir Festival 2008 22 to 25 August 2008

Basic rules:
In the year of 2008 the festival will be held during the period from 22 until the 25th of August. Every choir and singing formation has the right to participate. The application deadline is 1 May 2008. In order to apply a completed application form has to be sent, including a short biography, photography of the choir and the conductor as well as an audio recorded not later then two years ago.

Once selected the Choir is required to pay deposit of 10 euros per person until the 1 June 2008. In case of cancellation of participation one month before the date of the Festival, 80 % of the total sum will be refunded. In case of cancellation of the Festival the entire amount shall be refunded.

The Festival shall be held in the following categories:
- Category A - children’s choirs (2/3 must be under 15)
- Category B - youth choirs (2/3 must be under 25)
- Category C - adult choirs (2/3 must be above 25)

Due to the limited financial resources there will be a limited amount of participants. The Organisational Committee will select the participants on the basis of the material sent by the choir (audio recordings, biography etc).

Ohrid Choir Festival will not be of a competitive character. However, an expert's jury that will write a critical analysis of the choir's performance will monitor the festival. There will be Grand Prix of the Choir Festival that will be rewarded to the best choir.

The festival contains an official part and an unofficialI part. All the choirs are required to perform in both parts.

- In the official part the choirs are required to perform a program of their choice that would last between 15 minutes - 20 minutes. This performance will be held in a concert hall and will be monitored by an expert's jury that will write a critical opinion according to which a Grand Prix will be given.

- In the unofficial part the choirs are required to perform 20 minutes program on an open air location in front of a random audience.

The Choirs are required to give the permission to the Ohrid Choir Festival to use, record, make copies of the recordings made during the Ohrid Choir Festival. The Organization Committee has the right to cancel the Festival. The Festival does not cover any of the travel costs. The travelling costs have to be covered by the participants.

If the participants show interest, the festival may organize various excursions. The Organization Committee would be happy to offer an interesting and exciting plan so that the participants could explore the beauties of Ohrid.
