Kim Morrison (rock / R&B / country style musician) was
born in San Jose California, USA, and grew up mostly in the San Diego area.
She
was
the
seventh
of 13 children. The whole
family
was musical and the 8 youngest formed a group with the help of their mother
who did live radio as a child. For several years, the little family band performed
around the area. She got into her first rock band at the age of 13 and spent
the next 4 years performing around southern California.
She moved to Nashville and worked her way into the recording
studios and publishing companies on Music Row. As a writer, she has had cuts
by Ray Charles, Gladys
Knight, Dickie Betts, Mickey Gilley, Ty Herndon, Conway Twitty, Mel Tillis,
Johnny Lee, Vassar Clements, John Verity and many more.
As a background vocalist,
she has worked with Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynett, Dickie Betts,
Lynnard Skynnard, Hank Williams Jr., Sam Moore, Ray Charles, Carl Perkins,
James Ingram, Peabo Bryson, Eddie Rabbit, Warren Haynes and many many others.
She has had several record deals in the past but it wasn't until she produced
herself that her true artistry came to light in her newest offering, "Mixed
Emotions".
"Putting the material together for "Mixed Emotions" was definitely
a labor of love for me. As a producer, I was able to show how I see myself
as an artist, not someone else's concept of who I am. I got the chance to
record with some of the greatest players in the world including:
Warren Haynes, Jack Pearson and Joe Khoury on lead guitar. Gary Talley and
Casey Kelly on rhythm guitar. Johnny Neel and Ronnie Godfrey on keyboards. Dave
Martin, Tim Loftin, Dave Pomeroy and Willie Weeks on bass. Gene Houston, Lonnie
Wilson, Tommy Wells and Vince Baranco on drums. Terry McMillan on percussion. Vickie
Hampton, Johnny Neel, Ronnie Godfrey and Dora Morrison on background vocals. The
engineers were Mike Griffin, Tim Kish and Pat Hutchinson. I was lucky to work
with such talented co-writers as; Johnny Neel, Warren Haynes, Casey Kelly,
Gary Talley, Ronnie Godfrey and Wayne Perry. Thanks to everyone for their
wonderful work. So here it is... "Mixed Emotions". Hope you enjoy." -

It's a collection of some of my favorite original rock tunes and it also includes
